I had a YAMAHA S900 but I have a S910 now and I notice that my midi files sound a little 'different' now. For example, the bass guitar sounds less predominant that what it sounded through the S900. There are other very slight balance differences in some of the midis. Am I imagining all this or is there really some reason that these midis are sounding a little different ? Do I need to alter the EQs a bit ? I would appreciate your advice on this.

I did see the post on the balancing of volumes , but what I dont understand is how some midi files which have already been made comfortable while using the S 900 are now sounding diiferent on my S910. JohnG, I need your thoughts on this .

Well Shyam,
I suspect the sounds themselves in the instrument are, for the most part, identical. Except, obviously for the new ones. Mostly Yamaha will use the identical AWM samples for the sounds and the internal amplifiers should be identical. My MU1000 sounds the same as the MU128 with the same voices selected.
Are we talking about using the keyboard speakers or via the PA?
I suspect the speakers are different and may have a slightly lower bass response. So, yes, I suspect that tweaking the EQ is the way to go here. A little bass or lower mid boost may re-balance it for you.
Grabbing at straws! JohnG.

Then everything played would be weak.Unless he is just using it as a sound module. I'm with you and would point the finger at the speakers on the keyboards even more so if the bass sounds are distorted or vibrating.

It would probably be a matter of adjusting you EQ and tone pots.Did your old keyboards sound okay thru the PA or had you not used it.

I have a pair of new Yamaha MSR 400s now, Frankie and they have His and Loz controls onthem and I guess this is the confusion as its not really advisable to have too many EQs. I'll be checking the setting tomorrow and shall tweak it. Thanks for the inputs

No Frankie, there are no casings - all removed. Yes, I have used them twice now , with the new S910 and these are when I noticed the odd balance of sounds.

You should hear these MSR 400s to hear the bass ....... effectively punchy ! I sold my two dB tops and bass bin to get these to make it easier on the lugging and to tell you frankly, I dont miss the subwoof . It was a stage pass kind of sub woof, not the front facing W bin and the other types and it was okay with the dB set up. The Yams are good and they're compact !
