Here's a topic I'd like to put to the forum. Has any member had any problems with people setting drinks on their loudspeakers? WIn our band we use both bass bins and tops that sit in front of us. A lot of the venues that we play people think that the bass bins can double as a nice table for their pints and halves. This really irratates me. Does anyone have anything that they use to prevent this? It's frustrating having to keep asking people to lift their drinks, their must be some sort of speaker protectors. Maybe Barb Wire ;D

Maybe a Laminated sign on them might be worth a try.
Electrical Equipment Please Do Not Place Your Drinks Here

I don't think people understand the value of Band Equipment. Just seen a guy on another forum suggesting this sort of foam What you guys think? Might be the job...

Yes I know what you mean, some people are so ignorant, I know the type of foam it's in the camera flight cases, Well It's worth a shot, my only fear is that the glasses may be more likely to topple over if they do attempt it and then you will get a drink spilled all over your gear anyway. How about a sloping type of structure you could put on top of them, like a triangle shaped cone. www.djforums.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-259397.html a few interesting ideas here, It's a toughie for sure I'll send my mother she will sort them out! ;D

Gosh, we share the same problems ! Glad you brought up the subject, kemo !!! We had a pair of Wharfedale speakers , each with two 15 " woofs and a horn tweeter. They were very stylishly covered with black blanket type material and ............... inevitably the tumblers would land up on them !!!! It wasnt worth our time telling them not too......... no one bothered ! The sponge idea is brilliant ........ good one kemo (now, why didnt I think of that ) The Wharfedales are still with me but I use the Yamaha MSR 400s now, up on a tripod !!! How about increasing the lows and increasing the volume ....... the glasses should shatter !!!!!!

Some great suggestions there Jacqui my fav was "I just put piles of rubber dog shit on my subs, nobody goes near them". I think every band member knows the value of equipment and that it doesn't come cheap. I had the last straw at the weekend where we were doing a wedding. We set the stuff up on an elevated stage where I thought everything would be great untill the Video man thought that my sub would make the perfect place for his Pint of Lager. He got the picture when I went to sit my cup of coffee on top of his HD Sony Camera.
