Hi Shezza
I upgraded to Windows 7 and have found numerous issues, especially concerning Gs midis. I use Van Basco to replay the files but need to convert GS files to GM. They work fine using Cakewalk. Also Roland VSC is not compatable with Windows 7 as yet. What are using for playback? That could be your issue.

Hi shezza I haven't found any real difficulties in upgrading to Win 7 from XP but Vista was a nightmare for sure. I even installed Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 which was originally released for Win 98 just changed the compatability settings and after a few attempts its working fine ever since. Admittedly a few older progs did cause probs but new Win 7 drivers are being released all the time wouldn't ever go back to XP now but I guess each to his own.. Van Basco also works away fine which prog do you use for playing back your midis ? Barry

:)Hi Barry,i also have recently switched to Windows 7 after having XP for many years (our computer gave up the ghost & i had to replace it with a new one which came with windows 7) i was unsure of a few of the functions on win 7 but am working through them slowly,i have Sonar le (works ok) on it which the bloke you who set it up put on for me with all of my other programmes & files otherwise everything is pretty well normal except i cant seem to get my midis to play on Vanbasco,i have not delved into it as yet so if i need to have a listen to any new midis i r/click & play it using windows 7 media player or play them on Sonar le. Aso like one of the other forum members (i can't remember he's name) i also have an older computer not connected to the internet which has Win XP & on this computer i also do all of my midi editing etc,i also have Sonar le plus my Sonic Cell module hooked up to this one as well so it is handy to be able to stay with XP for all of this stuff as i am familiar with its workings. The added bonus of having a spare computer for my music is if my good lady wants to use the internet one its always available.I am still hanging in with the Sonic Cell as it is giving me some nice quality backing to play out with,as you probably know i put the midis into mp3 format to play out at my oldies gigs so i often get comments on the good sound quality of the backing,i realize i have a long way to go but getting the time seems to be a problem at the moment what with the busking venture which is going great guns , weather dictates how many times a week i can go out as we are into our winter which at the moment is giving our area a fair bit of much needed wet weather although we still have only about 22% in our dams we have nowhere near enough for the forthcoming summer.Anyway mate thats all the news from down our way best wishes to all.. Simmo
