Hi all
I just wondered if anyone out there has any interest in Laurel and Hardy, and if so what your thoughts on them are?
I have allways been a big fan of their humour and they never cease to make me laugh.
Any feedback,
Best wishes

I'm a massive fan of them Oliver and never tire of watching old films of them....a remarkable duo who inspired many who followed their footsteps....they don't make em like that anymore!!

yep gotta agree with Tubbs re, Laurel & Hardy,we as kids back in the 40's would do our run early on a saturday morning to pick the coke up(as in coal/coke) from the gas works in an old pram two mile each way,get our ninepence pocket money, although it was never called that,no jobs no money, anyway we would then go to the local cinema, back in the same direction another two miles to be in time for the saturday morning matinee, sixpence downstairs ,ninepence upstairs & if it was your birthday you would get a postcard in the post (as in letterbox for the benefit of our younger members) giving you a free pass to get in,the only trouble was you had to go up on stage & everyone sang happy birthday to you, this was an area where 'young Simmo'used to excel himself be it by bribery or the simply taking advantage of the situation at the time, all of the lads that were to nervous to go up on stage would part with there free entry card before going into the cinema so you would have a situation whereby "young Simmo" would have an average of up to as many as ten birthdays a year most with different ages on the cards,i had the added advantage of actually having enough hair in those days to being able to comb it different ways so as to avoid detection.Ok we were talking about Laurel & Hardy, one our favourites in those days (notice the way we used to spell favourites in those days)Sorry i should have mentioned i am reminiscing about my childhood days in the UK,anyway they used to be amongst the most popular films along with i think Abbott & Costello but then Tarzan with the original Johnny Wiesmuller,Alan Ladd came a little later but the cowboy & indian films would always get plenty of response especially when the Calvary came to the rescue in the last five minutes.Just remembered the trailers for the forthcoming events would also be a highlight because they used to show you a lot of the best bits of next weeks sat morning films, yes folks you had to be there to experience it,great memories, good character building stuff, different world today,no complaints though you've gotta stay with the times,i must admit although its good to look back on life it just makes you appreciate in our case anyway how life has been good to us.Best wishes to all,Simmo in a pensive mood thinking about his seventy'th birthday this year & trying to hide all of the calendars

Those two could also sing.
"The trail of the Lonesome pine"
It was also a hit for them in the 70's.
A great comedy duo.
