Maybe I'm just being goofy but....... how do you set it so when i open a topic to read the latest posts are at the top. the way its set for me now the new posts are on the last page..... I used to know but i can't now...... You know what they say ... as you get older your hearing is the second thing to go.... can't remember what the first is...

I don't think I have run into this before so really can't think how to respond at this stage. But I will look into it for you...hopefully in the meantime someone else will be able to shed light on it. If it can be sorted we will do it

Done all the checks available on the forum but see nothing that can alter how the pages are presented. Very confusing is this.

when you open a topic that has more than one page you will see up in the top left corner of topic page a description of how many pages there are on the topic i.e 1 of 3 pages. next to it is a little white box with the No.1 in it , so delete that and insert a three and click on GO,and that takes you to the most recent page on the topic Bigmike

Thats what i've been doing....It just seems to me that it would be kinda convienient ( just like when you recieve email ) that the latest post would be the first thing you see when you open a topic. It seems to me that back when this was an option in your profile. you could have the posts listed by date in ascending or descending order... its not a biggie really... but it would be convienient.

Er!
And how do I switch mine back to the old format?
In my tutorials section the questions come before the tutorials. IMHO that doesn't make sense.
Shouldn't everybody have been asked whether they prefer this way?

I'm with john as regards to perhaps a vote on the change , but surely it makes more sense to have the latest post first and the oldest one last, except i have to agree with john with regards to his tutorials. Suppose its heads you lose, tails you can't win.

I don't really see how it causes confusion. We've been getting a lot of positive feedback regarding this change and the Admin are in favour of implementing it. However, because of one or two negative criticisms we will have a poll and see the general feeling toward it. The phrase "Damned if you do..Damned if you don't" is coming to mind.

I don't really see how it causes confusion. The idea of applying it to posts I can see is quite a good idea but I suppose it also depends on personal preference. In terms of tutorials, I think its a bit strange to have to read from the bottom up, as it were, especially if they are multipart. Like reading a book starting from the back page! I can't think of any other web site, where tutorials are offered, where the questions about the tutorial precede the tutorial itself. Or indeed anywhere, web based or not. No, not damned, I can see when reading a succession of posts on a subject, that it would be useful to see the last post if you've been following closely. But if you've missed a few posts, scrolling down to find the last one you read, then scrolling back up again seems a little weird to me. But maybe not to others. Is there no way people can opt in or out by changing their profile? I've always found that pressing "End" key on the keyboard takes me virtually to the last post in a thread. And now "New Reply" is below the first message! Eh? So if I want to reply, without quoting, I have to go to the end anyway. That's just weird IMO. You can't teach an old dog new tricks. And it's only my 2d. JohnG.
