hi guys,i'm looking for some help. I'm thinking about buying a keyboard that i can play using the one fingered chord method ( you guessed i'm not a keyboard player).I've seen ones that you can pick a style and using auto accompaniement, you can do a whole backing track using this method. I'm thinking on the Yamaha PSR range, but i'll accept any advice. My questions are; can you make a midi file using this method? can you use the midi out to go direct to cakewalk.? does the whole track go to cakewalk in individual trax.? And which would be the best keyboard ( not too expensive ) to do this job. I have a couple of decent sound modules so the sound the keyboard makes is not important I already do some sequencing using cakewalk, this is just a way of doing some trax easily.and i can transfer to cakewalk and then doctor as required I hope i've managed to expain myself properly, apologies if it's a bit confusing. Any help would be appreciated Thanks Eddie

Hi Eddie, Probably a PSR is the way to go. It seems to have the widest support in user forums etc. and there are loads of styles for it that people have created. Literally thousands! Here's a site where you can see all of the current models ranging in price from about £120 to about £1500. I've made it a tinyURL so it's easier to post. tinyurl.com/379oqmrAs far as I know the style files are embedded into the PSR but can be loaded and dumped using utilities. You'll find plenty on the PSRtutorial site and you could also look here www.jososoft.dk/yamaha/index.htm. Basically as you go up in price so you get more keys, better sounds, more polyphony and so on. As a generalisation though, if you pay around £500 you will get something pretty reasonable for home use. So the S550 (I think) is not a bad one. Certainly I know its predecessor the 540 was not a bad device for the money. Having said that, it's not an S910, but it's only a third of the price. Have a good look at the more detailed pages you can get by clicking on the name of the keyboad, from the first URL I posted. It should help you sort out what you want. Have fun! JohnG.
