Hi All,not sure if anyone can give ole Simmo a bit of advice but would appreciate all input & suggestions, here goes....at present i am performing oldie type concerts to mixed audiences, sometimes the folks lean towards a bit of really oldtime stuff where as at other gigs they like a bit of oldtime plus a good serving of the type of numbers such as the old r/roll stuff as well as a bit of country in other words they like me to mix it up a bit which i prefer to do anyway, the concerts are usually only an hour long although i do get the odd 2-3 hour gigs for special occasions etc,my setup is as follows,i am using a yamaha 6 channel stage pas pa system in which i run my mic, acoustic guitar, backing mp3 tracks which i have edited through my sonic/cell/sonar le to put them into mp3 format,(a big thankyou to all the folks that have helped me reach the stage i have got to especially John G ) the mp3s are being played on Ess Mblaster2 which i find is perfect for this.My guitar is an old Ovation acoustic,no cutaways, fitted with a LR baggs pickup which gives me a quality sound, the problem i am finding is that because i am a basic strummer the rythmn part is fine but on the Rocky numbers because i am starting to learn a few 12 bar riffs to throw in the mix just to make it more interesting the only way i can really make them stand out is to hit the boss DI Distortion pedal which i got on the cheap for this purpose.it really isn't that flash but i'm not that thrilled with the result,i dont think the Ovation was really cut out for it.My query is because i do not want to have to carry an extra guitar as in an electric guitar because since the concerts are only an hour & at the moment i have got the transportation of my gear down to a fine art,i am able to push my home customised trolly with everything on with one arm & with the other i carry my guitar,it works well because there can be several coded security doors to get through in the high security venues (Dementia etc) so to have to make two trips would be a real hassle, right getting back to the guitar situation,is there a guitar available which anyone could recommend with a single or double cutaway which would give me a nice acoustic sound plus if required at the push of a switch or possibly a pedal i would be able to get a sound with a bit more grunt to enable Ole Simmo to make a fool of himself while attempting some elementary lead breaks ,i have been on the net checking a few options there is a guitar which carries a whole host of midi type sounds called a Variax, also Godin do something similar, plus there is a Boss acoustic simulater pedal which claims to give a good acoustic sound as well,i do own an epiphone sheridan2 semi acoustic which unfortunately is really heavy & gives my shoulder a real pounding so i will have to give that one a miss, anyway i thought it was worth running this subject past the members as i know there is a lot of very experienced muso's on the forum, as well as that it it another subject for discussion,so in short Simmo would like ideally to get a cutaway guitar which is not to heavy which would be able to deliver a nice acoustic tone plus have the ability to go electric when required be it with a pedal or whatever, many thanks for hearing me out i think hopefully i have explained it clearly....Best wishes to all members,
