Hi Guys,
I seem to ask this every time I go to the UK - so far without any positive result- but just in case here goes again......
I shall be back in Derbyshire from the end of this month until 8th Sept (taking a break from the intense Cyprus heat) and would love to meet up with any "hangouters" within reasonable striking distance of Derbyshire. Even better if you're gigging in the area and I can come along and heckle. Alternatively, for those of you into big band jazz I will be taking over the keyboard stool with the Alfreton Big Band for some gigs at the Boundary Hotel in South Normanton on Monday evenings.

Sorry Roger, Miles away from me, otherwise I would have loved to meet up. Try Wales next time.

Thanks for the thought Geraint. It's years since I visited Wales, who knows, maybe one day.

Hi Roger,
Susanne and I will be visiting Blighty at the end of the month. Only trouble is we'll be South-Westish near Salisbury and then South of London near Tunbridge Wells. I think it's quite a hike to Derbyshire, isn't it?
Best regards, JohnG.

Hi John,
You're right it's a long way by bike to both destinations and I'm told that, compared to Cyprus, petrol is a rather expensive commodity these days in the UK. I remember a few years ago on the Midimart forum the idea of a get together of members was mooted but I don't think it ever happened in England. Perhaps in Ireland? I'm sure someone will remind me. Enjoy your hols with the lovely Susanne. You never know John one day I may get to Meckenheim. Take care.
Roger

Hi Roger, just to comment on your great suggestion of having get-togethers for the Hangout members who hail from all parts of the globe & of whom all share a common interest, speaking from my own experience from when my good lady Patricia & myself had the opportunity last year to visit the UK on an extended holiday we were indeed fortunate to have the pleasure of actually meeting up with several of the forum members whom we only new through the exchange of emails, posts on the forum discussing all the usual music subjects & who had also helped myself unselfishly with an outstanding amount of advice to help me get started in the world of midi editing, being a complete newbie to all of this stuff i certainly could have never managed to get past first base on my own.I can still remember waiting with Patricia under an historical arch in the country town of Wells in Somerset sheltering in the rain but also keeping an eye out for a fella with the unusual name of John G who with he's good wife we had arranged to meet up with at this particular spot at midday, sure enough right on time they came along which then resulted in a wonderful few hours of sharing a meal & drinks in a real English pub & finding out that not only did we get on like a "house on fire"but we shared so much in common as well (forget about the age thing ;D),all in all it was an exciting experience for everyone. No.2's meeting for the wandering Aussies was our catchup with fellow hangout member Rainbow (Graham) who made us so welcome into there home,we were overwhelmed with there kindness & assistance in helping us get accommodation at a lovely old Pub where we promptly decided to have extra days. Our time was spent with Graham & family having endless cuppa's & exchanging all the news about our families, music, more music etc plus they showed us all the local area as well, not forgetting a great meal out as well,(Graham unfortunately copped a bit of a bug through it but the Simmo's came away unscathed ) No.3 exciting surprise was in the heart of Gloucestershire which would have to be in the prettiest part of England, here we met up with once more another forum member Allegro (Geoff) & family who has helped me so much over the time i have been on the forum,he is a true professional musician & Patricia & i were treated like royalty during our two visits to he's home,we still talk about the incredible home cooked meal the family put on for us & the following session when we were treated to some live entertainment in there home, this was something that we will remember forever,Geoff even found the time to give me a few tips & advice on my Cakewalk programme i was using.Well i think Ole Simmo's rambled on long enough but i just wanted to let everyone know that for Patricia & myself our Trip to the UK was highlighted by this meeting up with people that we had only ever had internet contact with & if anyone else has the opportunity to be able to do the same as what we managed to do just give it a go,we feel as though we have made lifelong friends after this wonderful experience, unfortunately our trip to Ireland was fairly short resulting in not being able to catch up with the folks there but i do thank those that so kindly offered to welcome us during our stay it would have been great to have got up into the north of the country, maybe the Simmo's will make another trip before we get to old & feeble , Best Wishes to all...The Simmo's Ps,if any one happens to be down Baldivis way any time just drop in you wll be most welcome i believe we are pretty central to most of the forum members ;D
