Hi Last year I saw an duo playing in a local club, I noticed they had a small Monitor Speaker on a stand just in front of the singer, it was only small, it looked around 6-7" high and maybe 5" wide, it was on the top what looked like a microphone stand, and a lead was running from it to the amp, I assumed they would be easy to find, but have asked in a few shops and they don't know of anything like it, I saw something similar the other day a Mackie SRM150, which is active, but this looked a lot bigger than the one I saw, I know it's not much to go on, but just wondered if anyone knows of such a thing, or has one. Jacqui

I think the one you are referring to is the ' Hotspot monitor ' . They are available from www.smartsounddirect.com . They are made by Galaxy Audio. Good luck Ian

Hey Thanks Guys, yes that's the type of thing, would you believe I've asked in two music shops and all they knew about was the full size wedge monitors. Weegeo is that the one your friend uses the Behringer Eurolive B205D Active? They all look interesting, this gives me something to work on, has anyone ever tried them? Jacqui

I had a set of Alron monitors about 9 x 6 inch that fitted on mike stands. 30 watts x 8ohms.They ran off a slave amp. They were quite good. I think I ripped them to bits and used them to put lights in. Ideal for a small act,and should be cheap as chips!

I just looked on the Alron site, but can't see any of those, were was it part of a set? I was wondering if you could use a a PC speaker, like one of the 5 small ones you get with creative 5.1, or do they have to be special speakers made to use with a PA

Cheers Tommy I never thought of them I'll give it a try. Are all monitors normally powered then, I expect I'm stupid but I thought they would take the power from the amp, Jacqui

Are all monitors normally powered then, I expect I'm stupid but I thought they would take the power from the amp, Jacqui Alron dont sell them anymore. Good idea to buy a single powered one. No extra amps to carry around as they have an amp built inside. All you need to do is supply sound source via a lead from your main system, and power from a mains supply. www.galaxyaudio.com/PA5XD.jsp
