GUYS JUST LOKK AT MY SCREEN NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yikes, I'm stuck with this keyboard now and I have to totally depend on my external display via the video out. Really scary feeling !!! A replacement costs as much as 50 % of the original cost of the instrument. Do any of you know where I can pick up a display board for the S900 from some unit which has been trashed for some other defect ? Hellllllllllllpppppppppppp !!!!!!!!! Attachments:

Hi shyam, just picking up this topic. I also own an s900 and unfortunately last night my screen packed in. Have been going through numerous forums this morning and have noticed that quite a few of the UK users have had their displays replaced as an accepted known fault in this model. I was wondering how you got on with your s900? I can buy the display for £100 but id rather speak to Yamaha before proceeding..
Regards
Kieran

Hi Kieran Just had a look there and I found this contact for you she was one of the ladies who dealt with everything Karen was her name and Sue was the other lady just in case ... They're based in the UK the number I have for them is .....01908369213...... Didn't actually cost me a dime just had to have it packed up and ready for collection by a courier think I needed to download some stickers to attatch to the box....mind you mine was just over the warranty so I was lucky to have no charges applied. I hope your in a similar situation think I had to wait about 3 to 4 weeks to have it brought back by courier to my home . Best of luck with it let me know how it goes ok.. Cheerz Barry

Hi Barry, just an update. Contacted the number above and spoke to the lady in relation to my fault, she asked for the recipt which I don't have to prove proof of purchase. She then gave me 2 numbers to yamaha service engineers in my area. i had stated that I was aware that this was a common fault with this series of keyboard so she has stated that I have to wait until next week untill their in house engineer returns from holiday to discuss the matter. I will keep you up to date on the progress. The thing that bugs me is that in my case the fault goes away intermittently... Very strange..
All the best
Kieran

i think in the past 4-5 years, the parts for the yamaha keyboards are made in china, which may account for the breaking down of screens!!.i know for a replacement screen, its a chinese firm!!,i was looking at a forum where someone with an old psr3000 had the same problem.after taking out the part, and taking the part number he found 1 on a site which offered all the screens complete with packaging at quite a reasonable price.he took photos of the connections etc,and its working perfect!!.So if you are electrically minded, and dont mind doing it yourself i can post the site address on here for anybody to see. hope this is of some help...........Steve www.yj-lcd.com.cn/product/370415364-200373531/mc57t02e_lcd_panel.html

Hi steve thanks for the link, much appreciated. I've had a breakthrough! I contacted the number posted by Barry and have been speaking to the in-house engineer and he has told me that he will cover the fix. Couldn't believe my luck. They are sending me out a box tomorrow to package it up,then I have to contact them to arrange a suitable time for collection. Talk about the luck of the Irish. Ill keep you all updated on my repair and turnaround time.
Many thanks to Barry for the telephone number to start the ball rolling..

Wow thats great news Kieran. Having bought my S900 from the grey market, I had no option but to keep using that with the external display. I sold it darned cheap with the external display and now have a S 910, which , somehow, feels like a hardier model. Hoever, I'll still keep my fingers and toes crossed.

Very sad Shyam that you had to loose out regardless of where you bought it. At least it shows that the consumer still has a voice when it comes to defective products however big the company may be.. I wish you well with your s910

Hi Kieran Meant to say when I got my S700 returned to me I rang them back and spoke to them as regards what could have caused the fault in the first place esp being a fairly new keyboard. They said some displays can often burn out for no apparent reason .....but leaving them on constantly can shorten their life span . Seeings though this was my first keyboard I wasn't aware of this ... I used to leave my keyboard on constantly at home all day and often overnight as well so it makes sense what they say and I'm sure thats what caused my display to blow out so soon . Of course I didn't tell them this but I'll def know for future reference . Regards Barry
