Thanks lads. I am still not experiencing problems of any kind, so can only assume that whatever it was is now no longer present. Fingers crossed

I haven't had it since I posted the warning and have logged on about 5 times.I checked out the "heur" virus and there are several versions. I am using COMODO since having my computer upgraded and it appears to be very good.I was using AVG but the computer Tech advised this was a superior anti-virus,and it's free.

Update: I checked out the Comodo website and have decided to download, in fact, I am in the process of doing that this very minutes It's a biggish enough file, 41 MB, and as my Internet speed is pretty slow, not even a half a meg, it will take about 15 minutes. I'll see how it goes and report back.

Quick update:
I decided not to go through with the installation at this time because it is asking me to disable my other anti-virus software before continuing. I may do so later, but not right now.

I downloaded Comodo this afternoon, but before installing it I ran a full scan with AVG and it came back clean reporting no infections. I then uninstalled AVG and ran a full scan using Comodo, it came back with 5 infections that AVG failed to pick up! So from that it would appear that Comodo is a better antivirus than AVG! Plus Comodo has a firewall which AVG does not.
Pat, the download doesn't stop at 41meg, after installation it downloaded a further 80meg of updates! Fortunately I have a pretty fast internet connection....

It sounds pretty good. If it can detect something avg missed, then it has to be better. I have always considered avg to be on the ball but clearly not as good as this Comodo software. The size of the file isn't really a problem for me, well it is if I want something downloaded quickly, but as I am use to waiting it isn't a problem

The best part of comodo is it's firewall, the rest of it does not do the job very well,if you are running AVG 9,and you want really good protection then the best option is to run Spybot S.D,resident as well.It sits in the system tray and loads automatically when you switch on but you need to be a competent user to get the best from it.If you use it you need to exit it before loading any new software otherwise it scans every bit of information and it can become a bit of a pain as it can take ages to load your new programmes. It is a free download and used by a lot of software producers.

I have AVG 9 and that does have its own firewall, I really like it and it comes highly recommended.
