I am wondering if any other guitar players have used or currently use alternative guitar tunings. Other than tuning everything to an open "E" I haven't done too much in this regard - the open E seems okay but restricted, at least for me. I have seen some play guitar in this fashion and get great results. If you have tried one of these unconventional tuning options yourself then please let us know your thoughts; have you a favourite, for example. Or, if you haven't and are interested you might want to check out the following link for more info: guitar.about.com/od/alternatetunings/ss/alternate_tune.htm

I've learned something new on this post.
I didn'nt know that DADGAD was Jimmy Page tuning. This tuning is used a lot by traditional irish guitarists, Steve Cooney, Arty McGlynn.
Myself I use open tuning, but I love to use the Drop D tuning to get some great trad harmonys.
Thanks for the info Emerald
