Excellent article John thanx for taking the time to post this gonna use this as a reference in all my sequencing efforts from now on. One question though when I make up a sequence on my Yamaha kb as you know it'll have all the sys msgs controlers etc at the start ...but if was to put a GM reset at we'll say 1:1:000 will that overide the XG controlers......the way I do it now if Im posting self seq files I need to convert from XG to GM using M Bedensens Midiplayer to make them sound some bit decent otherwise as you can imagine the instruments and settings are all over the place .Im fairly new to all this sequencing lark and although I love my Yammie Im kinda sorry I didnt go for a Roland or other GM keyboard. Thanx again for this very informative post. regards Barry

Great stuff John. ........that explains the gobbledeegook I get when I dont allow enough space and time between the resets I can understand it all a bit better now and Ill put this into practise in my next project. Must also try converting over from xg to gm your way sounds much easier than my way. I also find as you say the amount of data received so quickly can oveload the sound module and sometimes the instruments are inclined to stall and skip with me the drums especially. Anyway thanx again for expalining all that it makes things much clearer now and explains a lot of issues I was having thanx also for the xg spec didnt have that one. regards Barry
