I've got the opportunity to pick up an Edirol SD20 Sound Module at a good price. Has anyone had any experience with them? How they sound, ease of use, etc?
Cheers John

Hi John,
Sorry I haven't got back to you on this. I have a Roland SC8850 which is pretty good IMHO and certainly rivals the Yamaha MU128 from the same era. I think the SD20 was designed more for the "home studio" than as I gigging machine, but that's only my recollection. As far as I recall it has a pretty reasonable sound/drum sets and was considered quite a good machine in its day.
Reading the Edirol site it would appear that it was also designed for karaoke type use too. You may well have to become familiar with GS SysEx messages to make full use of it but it supports GM2 standard as well. If the price is good and it's fully functional you probably won't be displeased. However sound quality is soooooo subjective you MUST hear it first.
HTH JohnG.
