Hi I have a friend abroad at the moment with just a laptop, he wants to convert some midis into MP3, but does not have a converter on his laptop or an on board recorder, he said he downloaded something called 'Switch' but was not impressed, as I don't know anything about this kind of software I was hoping my friends here on the forum may be able to offer some advise on some kind of other free software for him to look at?
Cheers Jacqui

Hi Jacqui. ...there are lots of them out there mostly 60 sec demos some better than others but if he intends doing a lot of converting I'd recommend purchasing a full prog ..Ive used this one before and found it excellent with no loss of quality like some of them ...he could always try out the demo and see for himself .... .Im sure you'll get other suggestions and even maybe free progs but just my experience anyway for what its worth.. Hi Jacqui, Heres another full program, midi2wav. www.midi2wav.comDon't be fooled by the name, it does midi to mp3 too, and WMA! It allows conversion either via the local soundcard or via a soundfont. One advantage of using a soundfont is that there are loads of soundfont freebies out there, so to some extent you can end up with the sound you want by trying different ones. I think it's $29.95. Hope that helps. JohnG.
