:)Hi folks, thought i would get you up to speed on whats been happening in the Simmo household as i have been a little quiet on the forum of late, have been checking in briefly most days but haven't had much time to respond to any of the postings etc,Ok...we have changed our internet server as the last one whom we had been with for many years started playing silly buggers with our account ...service...etc,we have opted to go with 0ptus where we also get a better deal on phone calls etc, living where we are means that most calls we make are STD (long distance) & they were charged by the minute by our last server which turned out to be fairly expensive item, especially as most of our kids,grandkids..friends etc live up in the Perth suburbs,as it is now we get all of those calls plus local calls for free with our new server, the downside is that the internet service being wireless is a bit hit & miss at times, also we have been experiencing cutoffs for the first couple of weeks while the changeover was happening,i went to download a members stage mp3 & was informed i had another 18 minutes to go before i would be able to complete the download (painful ) the good thing is it seems to be settling down a bit over the last couple of days.Been busy with all the Xmas senior gigs,in the last 2 weeks i have done thirteen, only two more to do next week then thats it til they kick off again in early January they range between one & two hours per show but what with the travel etc it has taken up a fair bit of my time, many thanks once again for all the members that helped me out with some great Xmas midis,,i sure put them to good use.I am still progressing with our backyard makeover between the music, trouble is to try & get materials ,bricks, pavers, sand ,cement etc delivered this close to Xmas is impossible,so guess who's been running around like a mad thing picking everything up myself in my trailer, just to help things become more interesting the weather has settled into summer mode,eg today i spent most of the day shifting sand (where we live white sand takes the place of normal soil) & the temperature today reached 38c then later this afternoon i had to stop working due to thunderstorms,so i wisely used the break to go down to the local liquor store & stock up for Xmas or sooner if the occasion arises ;D ;D.Patricia is keeping well but not keen on the hot weather,i am still working with Sonic Cell & sonar to do my editing but still a long way to go,i will try to expand my songlist with a lot of new stuff in the new year, just to make it more interesting for the oldies, well times got on 11pm & still hot outside, the storms have passed over but at least we scored a bit of rain out of it, best wishes to all the members for Christmas & have a wonderful & safe 2010, From the Simmo's

Hi Jacqui, many thanks for for your response ie, 'catching up with members',your weather sounds like the sort of stuff i have vivid memories of during my years as a 'milko'!!! many many years ago in the old country & probably one of the main reasons why we paid our ten pounds & departed those shores in search of a new life over in Aussie,i must admit that even in our very temperate winters we have a bit of a 'winge' if the days get a touch of chill in the air but then we think back in time & realise, hey!!! this isn't that bad after all, anyway Jacqui, enough of the nostalgia thing just like to wish you & the family a very happy Christmas & all the very best for 2010,i hope its a good one for you all, keep in touch, Terry & Patricia & mob downunder

Hi Terry and Patricia, Wonderful to have an update, thank you so much. Will be contacting you separately via PM now I have your new address.
Weather here has been freezin'! Many brass monkeys have been seen around clutching their groins! Temperatures down to -7C. Went to England to see my young'uns over the weekend and almost got stranded at Stansted. Our 15:35 flight finally left at about 21:45. Due to the time difference here we arrived back just before midnight. The last bus left at 00:10, so I just missed it. The taxi back from Cologne after midnight cost me just under 80 (yes, eighty) Euro. I arrived home at 01:40 and fell into bed just gone 2 a.m. Boy am I ever shattered. Will try to write tomorrow.
There is about four inches of snow outside, and the landlord has decided, in his infinite wisdom, to choose today to have the boiler serviced! Noisy and bl**dy cold.
All the best from a freezing ... JohnG.
