Has anyone any experience of the free Music Tag editors available to download. Ages ago I imported a lot of my tracks onto my PC for putting onto my ipod or or Laptop, with the idea of using them on some gigs, I have download winamp, and notice that a lot of the tracks need to have the information updated (Tags) I think they call it. I have songs in folders for example Folder-Country 1-and in that 30 tracks with Title, Track Number, Album, Artist, Key, Year, dance tempo, but some of them may say Country 1, some country1 some Country-1 same on the names may have abba or AbbA Is there something that can change all names in one go on all tracks say the album name so they are all the same font and maybe first letter capital, I've been doing it song by song by right clicking and editing the Properties/summery but it takes forever, I also tried in windows media player but that only changed the entry in that not in the file itself. I can't seem to find a way to do it in Winamp. Any help I would be grateful there seem to be so many on the net, where do I start? Jacqui

Hi Jacqui Try using win amp, open the files you would like to tag in a list, select the first track and then hold shift and select the last track. right click and select "view file info". On the bottom right of the pop up window you should see "auto tag" click that and wait (you need to be connected to the Internet). then click ok...proceed to auto tag all files. Do you use the "search" local media function? it's cool too. good luck

OH BTW I just tag my backing tracks with my band name, then use that to call up all backing tracks...easy!

Last note! Found a quicker way, highlight songs to tag, right click select "send to" "auto tag"...also if it gives you greatest hits album info and you want a particular album you can add the album info and auto tag again and you will get the info for that album instead, I guess that will work for other variables too ie if you know it's track 3 you could use that...etc...

Hi Moonie Thanks for the info, I will try that today in Winamp, the autotag won't work for me as they are my own backing tracks, so they won't have any in bedded info, I want to use it to label track name, artists etc, so if I want to find say a Patsy Cline, I can just type it in and it finds all the tracks I have by that artist, I think there are other programs out there, I just don't know which one would be best to try to mass label them. Glad you found a few tips for yourself Moonie. Jacqui

Auto tag worked on my backing tracks, the file is named song - artist ie: ben harper - burn to shine and it came up with auto tags for it! Anyway best of luck finding a program that suits there is some amazing stuff around these days for sure.
