I would like to offer commisserations to all the members from Ireland for the way you got knocked out of the world cup qualifiers, if ever there was a need for goal line refs, the Thierry Henry incident has provided a solid case for them. As much as I would like to see the game replayed I dont think FIFA will allow it, as I suspect they would prefer France at the finals rather than the Emerald Isle.

What can one say, the referee didn`t see it nor did his linesman so the decision must stand it`s unfortunate but thats how the cookie crumbles.
I heard in the local news[and this made me laugh] the Irish Government have asked that the game be replayed what a can of worms that would open so i think it`s better just to let it go the good guys don`t win all the time

Well, to say i was gutted is an understatement....but while i think FIFA need to bring video evidence to the game not just because of this game but countless others too, i don't think bringing politics into it is the way to go, as an admirer of Thierry Henry i was disgusted by his post goal celebration and he should hang his head in shame, still, nothing will be done by FIFA, as Ian says they want the big footballing nations at the World Cup, Ireland played brilliant and should come away from it with there heads held high!!
Shame on you France and FIFA and the very best of luck to England in the World Cup.

The response or should I say the silence from Platini and Blatter is shameful .If they want to clean up the game and stop the cheating etc , then here is a chance for them to show they have the balls if you excuse the phrase. In my mind to do nothing is an act of hypocrisy. Just my tuppence worth lads Bigmike

Seems Henry admits replay would be fair: news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/8370764.stmInteresting too to note what Arsene Wenger, who is French, said: I think if Thierry Henry was genuinely concerned with fairness he’d have gone to the referee at the time of the incident and explained what had happened, coming out now with such comments could be viewed as an effort at damage limitations. In my view I doubt he’ll ever be regarded in the same light as before.

Linesmen and referee should have thier pay docked and be demoted to amatuer division. Maybe using 2 refs and video refs as in rugby league would be the answer.

Honest players would be the answer........and if it wasn't a fix to get France through to the WCF's....then why was Anelka not booked for diving when it was clear the Shay Given didn't touch him...( honesty again )..as he was already on a yellow card? ??
