Went out gigging last night set up PA mics and guitars ok played minidisk sound only coming outa 1 chan/speaker we have it in stereo tried swopping cable over still only 1 chan tried another stereo chan just the same tried another 3 leads yes 3 leads still the same so it was either the output on minidisk was kaput or the mixer amp eventually sorted lead out put it in the left output of chan this make it mono but at least sound was coming outa both speakers had a great nite. Today i tested all the gear minidisk ok mixer amp ok guess what 4 of me leads were kaput lol at least i only have to buy a new lead. So if you ever get a lead that eventually breaks dont keep it in ya gig bag.

Ya lead probs can be a nightmare sometimes esp when your under pressure at the gigs.. .........something similar happened to me a while back turned out to be one of 4 short leads coming from my eq box to amp tried everything on the night to find the prob no luck had to do the same and link the speakers to one ch .....the following day found the culprit with 2 mins .....ya had kept a broken lead in the bag as well .... ;D

Bought a Behringer CT100 circuit tester a while back. Not expensive, and tests lots of combinations of different cables, including ordinary audio cables and the ones with 1/8" stereo plugs. It can also generate a test tone to input into the mixer and can detect the presence of phantom power. Can check your MIDI cables too.
Worth its weight in gold. JohnG.

Levi, I think we can all identify with the broken lead in the bag senarieo, certainly happened to me a few times in the past and can ruin a gig.....or two if you don't sort the problem. It's a nightmare when it happens at anytime but gigs especially. John, like Shyam, I too would be interested in one of these very handy gadgets. I did some searching and it certainly sounds the biz. www.cabletestingsoftware.com/behringer-ct100-cable-tester.htmlShyam, you can purchase it from these guys: www.zzounds.com/item--BEHCT100UPDATE: Sorry Shyam but they only ship within the US. I'll keep trying.
