This is not a PC problem but I am hopeful one of you might be able to help me out; I’m on the hunt for some software that will convert files such as MOV to AVI. I appreciate there are programs available to purchase off the Net but what I’m after is something freely available (licence/copyright free) that will do the job. Any suggestions? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Just a note to myself. Must set up more appropriate section for requesting such items as above

Good Lord! That was quick. Just downloading now and will check it out. I downloaded some programs before only to learn they were trial versions which would only convert 50 percent of a file with a watermark! Anyway, will report back on this.
Thanks Gerry.

Well Gerry's one didn't do the job, it could be me making mistakes. But anyway will now try Kemo's link and report back.
Thanks kieran.

Thanks lads but unfortunately I had no luck with either suggestions. I am sure I am doing something wrong, both programs resulted in making my browser crash and restart.
Thank Levi for the advice on the "codecs." I will check that out too.

HI Pat another thought if the progs keep crashing are you trying to convert the same file if so the file maybe damaged thats why progs are crashing there is also a codoec pack called XP codec pack if ya running winxp

I am running Vista Home Premium and the files seem fine, they play no problem on my PC.
As I said I may be doing something wrong so will download again and see if I can work things out.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Hi, Barry. I am downloading now and look forward to checking it out. Going by the website it certainly seems an incredable tool for a free one. Thanks Barry. I will see what the craic is and report back. It's 50 Meg so will take about 15 minutes for my connection to download

That's interesting, Barry. What I did was download from the link on the page your link took me to and in turns out it is just an advert for another company!
Let me check out the other areas on the site.
