Yes, most laptops suffer from a noise problem. Too much electronics crammed into too tight a space, insufficient room for shielding. A PCMCIA card or an outboard audio converter will (should) have the screening needed. Have a look to see whether it does what you want. As I recall the PCMCIA cards are twice the price! JohnG.

Hi John This may be a silly question,but, do you need to use a usb audio interface for incoming and outgoing signals? Put another way: if i record to laptop through the interface, do i still need to use the interface for playback to mixer ? I hope that makes sense
