Hi Pat and Maureen ,great to see you Guys ,, we have to figure this Forum out ,only thing i can add to this Pat you might be interested ,,My Dad Christopher Leen had a band back in th 40S it was called 'THE BLACK DIAMOND BAND ' all you guys are too young to remember ,the other Band from Thurles at the same time was Martin Loughnanes ,cant remember at the moment its name ,,, they were both good friends at the same time HUGE RIVALS ,your parents may remember ,thats it for my knowlege of Music Pat ,,, this is going to be fun to read all the different posts , maybe Maureen and myself and the others can find a little corner, Pat we need our Thurles and Tipp fix

As I said to Maureen we have areas here where members can discuss anything they wish, although we tend to be music mad here we do like to chat about other things too - you should see our old music forum ;D Anyway I will now check out the Tipp forum.

Hi Maureen! I was looking just last week at an old programme from the 60s Showband era. I played with a Ceili Band in 1966 at Toomevara Carnival. A photo of the band was in the programme along with about 7/8 others inc: the Late Dermot O' Brian and some other well known heads as they say from that era. It was interesting to see how many buses ran to the venue from so many different towns in Tipperary and the prices included the entrance to the dance.................... Gerry.
