Hi guys Can someone tell me if its possible to change the lettering of the lyrics to the upper case ? In other words can I read the lyrics in CAPITALS and is it possible to change the font and size of the font of the lyrics that come with the MIDI files ? The other day, I had forgotten to take my song books and I was surprised to note that I could actually manage the lyrics of some songs, on the display . If I could have the lyrics in CAPITALS and if I could choose the FONT size, it would be truly a boon............. please tell me we can do it !!! I have CAKEWALK 9 and I would be most grateful if someone could tell me how to do it.

I use Showplay on a Laptop. I can change font, use Caps or regular change background, change spacing.. Its more or a word processor combined with software that plays Midi and MP3. I have Sonar and look later today to see if it can do what you want Shyam

Shyam Do you know where the Lyrics are stored ? as far as I know you might be only be able to change the text size if they're stored in Staff or Lyrics if they're in the Events List don't think its possible but maybe Frank knows something I don't . Regards Barry

Hi All,
Sorry I haven't been around much lately.
Shyam, lyrics are held within a MIDI file as what are called meta data, as text data or more correctly lyric data.
What you see is what was typed in capitals or lower case text. If lower case, then it has to be laboriously retyped in caps. The typeface it is displayed in is totally a matter for the karaoke player. It is not held within the meta data.
In Sonar and I assume CWPA there is a Lyrics View. That's the best place IMO to edit it. Send me a file and I'll take a look.
Regards, JohnG.

Frankie, tell me how to do that..........please ! Lyrics need to be on a dedicated track. Van Bascoes you right click Karaoke display and use full screen option. I need to hunt out my laptop with Cakewalk 3 and set up if you get stuc. Its a major op to retype all your files. I think it was lyrics display.......font.....bold....size.

Ok guys, I checked on the Lyrics view and found the lyrics of the song ..."ANGEL" by Lionel Richie and discovered that I could change the Font, size of Font etc, though not the case. However, I changed the size and made it into Bold, and saved the file on my USB (PEN DRIVE) and played it through my yamaha S910, but sadly, the lyrics were the same with no changes. Yes one option is to type it on to the Note book and save it as TEXT in USB and it shows up in the case it wa typed in and in whatever size available on the keyboard, but its only a separate text file and unlike the lyrics format which follows the song as in karaoke. Thanks for all the inputs, guys.......... I'm sure there will be a way through CWPA 9 Happy to see you, JohnG !!!

I have CAKEWALK 9 and I would be most grateful if someone could tell me how to do it. Hi Shyam, Received the file, thanks. First of all you can go into CWPA and change the text from lower to upper case using the Lyrics view, then save the file. It works okay in my Sonar 7. Changing the font and font size here only changes the way that CWPA displays it. As I said in my earlier post, there isn't a way in MIDI to store these changes (font and size). IMHO nor should there be. It is up to the device through which the file is being displayed to make adjustments to these details depending upon the type of display etc. Every one will be different. To adjust the display you need to refer to the section of the manual of the device you're using. Frankie posted a link to a section of the PSR manual (the 710 being essentially the same, I believe, as the 910 in this respect) which tells you how to adjust the font size etc. in the display. Clearly for someone using e.g. vanBasco's player, the procedure is going to be different. So it's a two stage process if you want all capitals, a combination of changing the MIDI file lyrics to upper case AND altering the display characteristics of the file player. Although maybe just the latter will do if you can get it to display large enough? Hope that helps, John.
