A while ago since i did a British Legion, but i remember at the end of the night the guy from the committee came up and insisted i had to finish with God Save the Queen. I didn't have a backing track for it so i had to sing it with only my guitar backing. I didn't know the chords so it was a 3 chord job. Maybe a good idea to get yourself a track if you haven't got one.

Hi Tommy, I used to play in four British Legions a month in Northern Ireland and like Mark says there used to be all ages.We used to play quicksteps, foxtrots and waltzes and some rock and roll to finish. In some clubs they expect you to back a few singers. Most of the older ones will be in the same age group as you and me,so if you sing the songs you've heard over your lifetime you'll be alright. If it's similar to ex servicemen's clubs I have always used material from the 50/60s era.
