Hi Guys I see a few of our members are using Mixcraft I'm thinking of maybe changing from Cakewalk got myself the 5 ver. it seems to be very user friendly and has an mp3 encoder as well....I'm all set up but just cant seem to get my Yamaha sequences to play . I see the midi driver(Portatone) listed in midi inputs but it dont give me the option to change the output to Portatone they only playback the accoustica sounds ......seems like theres no communication between the two . This worked fine in CW any ideas guys TIA Barry

How about load your midifile in go to the 1st track and click on the piano left hand side when window opens click show details where it says synth on the left side under new preset you should have a sound driver vst ie hyper canvas or acoustica inst click on that a pull down menu will appear at the bottom it should say external devices if you keyboard is there select it if it works youll have to do it for every track hope that helps and works

Hi Tom ...no luck with that unfor John that works when I individually click on portatone as my sound driver.......but as you say gotta do that for every track that's gonna be be very time consuming with a couple of hundred midis is there any way round this that you know of. ?......otherwise I might be better sticking to Cakewalk if I can get the mp3 encoder working . thanx guys Barry

Barry was reading the other thread about ipods you say you have tracks on minidisc why dont you link your minidisk to your pc and record em back to the pc and save as a mp3 the sound quality will depend on your sound card if its a laptop might not be as good. Anyway you wont need mixcraft to do that just use a free prog called audacity and set it to its best recording settings and save as mp3 with highest mps sertting my mp3s are saved at 320 kb and each mp3 file ranges from 6meg to 10 meg but with sdcards/usbs sticks being 8 16 or 32 gig that shouldnt be a problem

Ya whichever way its gonna be a long proccess eh......ya got my MD rigged up to my pc ok its just the midis I got on my pc prob gonna have to record them in and convert with cw.....thought I might have been able to just load midi and save as mp3 in Mixcraft without having the need to record in and change the settings for each track...anyway no worries thanx for all the help Barry

Hi Tom Still no joy unfor ....geez can't understand why it can be done in other sequencers and not MC.....put the quest to the guys over in the MC forum waiting for a response. It'd be great if I could get it working then Id have everything under the one roof play record and burn and instantly convert all my midis . Id def be using it permanently then as its a great little prog .... Cheerz again Ill let ya know if I hear anything back Barry

ok lets start again the portatone is that the sounds coming from ya keyboard if it is you cannot render to midi that way from a external deviceeven if you manage to get mixcraft to select all tracks at once with the keyboard driver it wont render it you will have to record it in real time then save as mp3 the only way you can load a midi then render it to mp3 is to use the vitual sounds ie acoustic inst or roland vsc blah blah barry go to your hotmail account ive emailed you summit
