Good to see the old genius is back with us welcome back john Steady on ol' chap! Loads of experience in MIDI I may have, grey cells (except through old age) I'm very much less certain I have. And what I have today is less than I had yesterday, sadly. Genius applies to Einstein, Bach, and a few others and not, definitely NOT to me. But thanks for the compliment anyway, it made me smile. ;D JohnG.

I have to use a double sided, double density disk for them to work both on my keyboard and the computer. The disks are very hard to get now. Geordie Hi Geordie, Forget trying to find DSDD floppies, use DSHD ones and cover the other hole i.e. not the one that has the slider for write protection. What you use must be opaque as no light must make its way through this hole. I use electrical insulation tape, although it can make a sticky mess! The floppy R/W mechanism uses this to decide whether it's DSDD or DSHD. It's true that proper DSDD disks tend to work slightly better as the magnetic material used on the disk surface has slightly different properties, but in the majority of cases DSHD disks will work okay. Anyone know the extn on files from Yamaha systems. Or how to read files by going into DOS Back when I had a PC running DR-DOS, I had a version of Norton (f)Utilities that had a disk recovery program that could read (as I recall) disk sectors, and recover them from many strangely formatted disks. But that was back in the late 80s, and that PC, a 386, long ago went to meet its maker. God bless its cotton socks. I'll give it some thought tho'. JohnG.
