I have been a member and administrator of the old MM site and our new location on the "hangout". We still have many members but where's everyone gone??. I see many of you on Facebook, but nothing here. Please tell us what the problem is?, what do you want?. We have all made many friends on our sites and I would hate to lose that contact, but at the moment it appears that all has gone quiet. Its up to us guys, lets develop the Hangout as we want it, but as Administrator, and I'm sure I speak for my fellow Admins, and Pat the site owner, we need your input. Tell us what you want!!

At last well done Geraint in asking the question!!! I come in here everyday and mostly find the place in silence,we only have to look at the dates of the postings to see how quiet it has been. This is for me the best site to exchange musical idea`s and we have some very excellent technicians as well as musicians how many times has JG come to someone`s rescue or how many files or tracks have been exchanged and requests answered,we had some great topics and some very quirky one`s as well!! who can remember the saga of Shyams wooden stand that was a brilliant topic. I know it`s difficult for everyone to raise topics or answer posts but let`s try and make time it seems that we have turned into a request only site, now before someone points the finger at me i should try and generate more topics and i certainly will try but a topic needs a response so come on guy`s let the admin`s know what the problem is and let`s get our house up and running again.

hi Geraint & Weegeo, many thanks for your very interesting comments on this subject & because i have no connection with 'Facebook'.... (this is a personal decision by both Patricia & myself with no reflection on the pro's & cons of the site but for some reason it has never attracted us even though most of our family seem to use it)....the point i am getting around to making is that i must agree with you both about the lack of subjects discussed over recent months whether it be musical or otherwise by the members,it used to have the feel of being part of a special family & for myself personally being a "wannabe musician" i have had & am still getting an enormous amount of pleasure & an incredible amount of of help & advice from members past & present.I realise that in the present world climate what with most people having to tighten there belts financially the priorities change which means of course that the time is better spent on the more important issues such as work ,families etc, myself being at the latter part of life & having a bit more 'Play-time"at my disposal i can afford the luxury of visiting the 'hangout' a lot more than some of the other folks.Well Patricia's on the move... lawns to be mowed...Ole Simmo's musical 'Toys' to be stowed...Gig to be done this Arvo...will talk soon...Simmo....PS...i might even have to bore you all with some more of Simmo's Ramblings.. just to keep the interest up on the site...Thanks again Geraint & Weegeo for bringing this to the members attention

Me too,
Most days I drop in to see if there's anything doin', but don't always login. I deleted my Facebook account, which was essentially unused anyway, when it got hacked, so don't meet up with anyone there, not that I ever did.
Now that everybody has been educated up to full sequencer status, must be, I don't get asked many questions anymore, I suppose there's no more need for an old fogey MIDI techie.
Sure is quiet here! We used to be able to rely on dear Shyam throwing the occasional 'cat amongst the pigeons' but he's quite understandably quieter at the moment. Perhaps I'd better pop over and try to cheer him up.
Put down that new Tascam interface Shyam and post something controversial, or another folding table article.
I'm doing the second part of my XG article to post but it's going to take some time this time. Wasn't that the name of a song?
My usual 2d. JohnG.

Me again. I've just noticed that the last post from Frank has 27 viewers and only one person (me) has taken the time to put in there opinions. That says it all-----there are plenty viewers out there but too many who use the forums and say nothing. If half of the people who viewed this post had made some kind of comment ,good or bad,we would be half way there.

Well I'm here ;D But because I'm not a Muso or that Technical with the music side of things I can't always help with much apart from midi files. But I look in when I can, which is normally 3 or 4 times week and try to keep up with what is going on, maybe I will comment more even if people think it's rubbish Jacqui

I've noticed that quite a few names that come up for birthdays haven't posted here for ages. Would it not be an idea to contact all members to refresh details. Maybe a few have lost the midi hangout address.

it seems we are all in agreement here, this was and still is the best site on the net for gaining knowledge on the musical and technical sides of things and I for one can't believe how far I've come from the days my good friend Eddie [weeo] first introduced me to midifiles. The sharing of files and kind criticisms of postings on Members site have encouraged me no end. Maybe the fact is that we have all become complacent.Ask yourself when last did you post a topic ,tell a joke ,post a members song ,I know I'm guity of all these things so I'm going to correct that immediatelly just my tuppence worth Bigmike

No one would ever think our Jacqui was talking rubbish [they wouldn`t take the chance of getting an earful from her lol]
On a more sensible note [B# lol] you don`t need to be a technician or as [as Jacqui] says a `muso` i am not very technical nor am i a great k.board player i`m a drummer by trade BUT i happen to think that my voice or Jacqui`s voice or anyone else that fronts their setup is the most important `muso`on the nite example= guitarist,k/board and tracks may be brilliant but if your vocalist is singing out of key or flat then no matter what you do the overall band is poor at best!!
As the legend that is John would say just my tuppence worth

For what its worth, I use facebook a lot, thought the new Midi Hangout group page would have been a hugh sucess. I think you should give it another go. FB seem to have tightened up a bit. I too enjoyed many a discussion under the chat forum, but its true that its gone very quiet lately.
Just my tuppy worth.

i think that those members that use facebook are quite entitled to do so BUT i joined this forum not facebook. The information that you get here is second to none the sharing of files you get here is second to none it shows in the dates of the postings just how much interest is being generated in the forum. Not to put anyone down i think FB has been a downturn for our forum,i for 1 am grateful for the personal support i got from my friends here but unfortunately the interest seems to have worn off your quote says!!!!!!!!!! [For what its worth, I use facebook a lot, thought the new Midi Hangout group page would have been a hugh sucess. I think you should give it another go] my answer to that is quite simple i joined the MM site which became the MH site there is NO advantage to me off going to FB and so for that reason i`ll stay here on a personal note i do think that some of the admins need a kick up the backside to get them back on here.

Perhaps we just have to face the facts that "the facebook phenomenon" has won the day, at least for the time being. I don't use the thing although I did have an account until it got hacked. There are several very active groups out there but mostly they're the PSR / Tyros owners groups posting performances to one another. If you go to the Cakewalk forum, George, and check out the number of members versus the numbers of posters you'll see the same kind of distribution. Even people like Scott Garrigus only post once in a while. The plain fact is that there are more sheep than sheep dogs and you can take a horse to water but you can't make it drink! What's that got to do with anything? Sadly the decline here started after the midimart debacle. But I'll continue to check in daily if time allows and I'm still here to answer queries as best I can. All the best, JohnG.
