we have had about two to three feet of snow in the past week and it's getting a bit tiresome having to come home each night and shift the stuff after a hard days work. The council is strapped for cash and are only concentrating on the main roads so the side roads are in an almost undrivable state .Now they are saying that the bins can't be collected due to the slow roads and could we possibly take our rubbish to the local recycling centres ,but pardon me if I'm missing something here, but if they can't make it to my house ,how on earth am I gonna make it to their recycling centre Bigmike [ Snowed in, Knackered and a trifle annoyed ]

Hey Guys
Out here in Canada you can have 4-6months of snow, but the Canadians are really geared up. You swap your summer tyres to winter, lots of vehicles are also 4x4 and all wheel drive. You have snow shovels and snow blowers and your drives and paths are cleared in no time. The County have all the main roads cleared and try to do the side roads as well. You dress up like an eskimo and off you go to work.I have been here 3 years now and oddly enough i look forward to winter. When the sun is out and there is snow on the trees and gardens it is the most beautiful sight. Just thought I would chip in my two pennies worth.
Regards
Mark

Hey Guys 2,
In this part of Germany, where I live now, we've not had as much snow. Less than a foot. The snow ploughs are out every day and even clear and salt our tiny minor road, about 100 yards long. When it was snowing during the day they seemed to be out all the time, clearing and salting. Only our car park is snowed up, until we, collectively clear it. We too equip ourselves with winter tyres (makes a huge difference) and bags of "streusalz", literally strewing salt.
But then snow is expected every year, whereas it isn't in the UK. I can remember so many years when in East Anglia it didn't snow at all.
Keep warm. It's a balmy -5C here! Brrrrrr! JohnG.

I must be stark raving bonkers! We've left temperatures of 26C and unbroken sunshine in Cyprus for MINUS 9C here in Derbyshire. I guess it will all be worth it to spend Christmas with the family. Just off to roast my chestnuts.........

Hi Frank, its on for one & all in the vital test being played at the moment at WACCA in Perth & not a great start for the home side,i have'nt had a chance to see how things are going today what with being busy Gigging,we live about an hours drive South of Perth, anyway i have just had a peep at the local news while having a bit of dinner & a drop of refreshment & i was surprised to see that the" Poms" had got us all out for a very average score so tomorrow will be a pretty vital days play,in fact it could see the final result leaning to the visitors, the Balmy Army are taking over Perth but it is all taken in a lighthearted way with the locals,in fact it puts a bit of colour in the whole event.Unfortunately our only saviour lies with the weather ,today was fine & sunny but it only reached 33c which is comfortable,it is building up next week to get to around 40c which may slow the visitors down a tad but it may be arriving to late to save our Ar#*.We have still had no rain & the dams are 32% full although looking at the forecast we have a cyclone building up in our N West, the bush fires are still rampart due mostly to the idiots that keep lighting them deliberately, well thats the latest update from down Baldivis way..best wishes to all members....The Simmo's...opening up all the doors & windows to cool the place down.

Simmo I have been to Perth and Freemantle a few times in my travelling years I reckon it is one of the nicest areas of Oz. Weather all over the world is getting a bit weird. Maybe the Mayans got it right.
